Artist Statement
I value that my work is always informed by someone or something else. Even if I am the only one physically in the work, I am always connected to others in process and performance. I think about collaboration as community- how I move with, learn from and care for those around me. This helps me learn more about myself and the world.
I explore my love for performance and the energies I am connected to in a performance space. I also question the complexities and histories that exist within performance spaces. I consider what my relationship as a performer is to my audience, and as an audience member to performers.
I reimagine how dance can fit into my ever changing body. I listen deeply to the sensations of my being and how they translate into movement. Improvisation helps me create honest movement that comes from what I am feeling in the present moment.
Moving with trust, with patience, with time.
