As performers, we have been questioning where the desire to perform comes from, while also trying to track when a performer can lose control of how they are being viewed. We find that this loss can happen when being subjected to objectification and sexualization through lenses such as the male gaze, alongside the role of the fourth wall in theatre and performance. This has catapulted us into exploring how performers can maintain their own personal agency despite the lack of control we have over how we are viewed by our audiences; in practices such as posting different kinds of content that engages viewership on Instagram, and rehearsing through the platform of Zoom that uses a camera to be seen.
